Project
Irvine Bypass Trunk Main Scheme

Description

The new “Irvine Bypass Trunk Main Scheme” is a strategically important trunk main project. The existing Bradan trunk main runs from the Highlees South SR to Greenhead DSR and feeds approximately 39,785 properties.

A section of the existing Bradan Trunk Main which is laid through Irvine in 33”/ 36” Pre-stressed Concrete (PSC) is to be replaced with SDR 17 PE main. The new main will be laid from Drybridge, located to the south-east of Irvine, will pass to the east of the town and will terminate near Eglinton Valve Chamber, to the north of Irvine. Between Drybridge and Eglinton it serves approximately 24,200 properties. The diameter of the new PE main is generally 800 mm OD, reducing to 710mm OD after the Long Drive connection and in total is approximately 11 km long.
