1200mm ID Iseki Unclemole

This machine is the stalwart of many tunnelling fleets. A E Yates Trenchless Solutions machine is a full system with its own pumps and jacking rig. The internal diameter is large enough for limited man entry so there is no difficulty in using bentoniting systems (we have remote automatic systems to minimise access but access is still needed to remove the system). With bentonite and interjacks and electric drive there is no theoretical limit to the length of drive but in practice 250m is a realistic maximum drive length.

Steering is by means of a laser onto a target with information on inclination and roll relayed from gauges in the head by TV camera. The crushing capacity of the machine is around 400mm and 200Mpa. The elecric drive and low gearing of the TBM allows it to work with only a 45kw drive motor reducing the machines carbon footprint below that of an equivalent sized hydraulic machine. The Iseki Unclemole normally drives from a 4.5m ID drive shaft into a 4m reception shaft.
