Construction of a new Community Hydro Electricity Scheme on the River Bain in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Description

Community Hydro electricity scheme

Works include the construction of river inlet, excavation and lining of 55m long leat parallel with the river through hard limestone bedrock, excavation for power house and a 7.5m long, reverse Archimedes type screw, set at a 22 angle, down, back towards the river. 3.1m change in levels from Inlet to outfall, allowing the screw to discharge the water back into the river at bed level. Construction of power house superstructure using local stone and reinstatement of leat. Extensive PR and environmental, ecological and archaeological liaison.
