Pipe Bursting

Pipe Bursting is a system used for the replacement of existing water and gas mains.

To achieve a trenchless solution, a series of interconnecting steel rods are first pushed through the existing main. A conical-shaped bursting head is then attached to the end of the rods and new pipe (usually MDPE) is attached behind the bursting head.

The rods and bursting head are then pulled back through the existing main using a powerful hydraulic rig. As the bursting head is pulled through the pipe, it splits and displaces the old pipework and installs the new pipeline in its place.

A.E. Yates are able to provide a cost effective pipe bursting solution and utilise one of the most powerful pipe-bursting rigs available.

Pipe Bursting Rig

Our Scandinavian No-Dig T125 Pipeburster rig has a total of 125 metric tonnes static pull back power. Depending on ground conditions it is capable of replacing all existing pipes from 75mm up to 760mm diameter and above with runs of 200+ metres attainable in one single operation.
