Contract News : Stamford Street Retaining Walls Strengtening, Stalybridge
Posted by AdeleCarroll on 22/7/2010 11:10:00 (79 reads)

A 33 week long contract to rebuild and repair the retaining walls along the length of the A6018 Stamford Street in Stalybridge for Tameside MBC.

The work involves mini-piling, reinforced concrete works, masonry cladding and retaining walls, new paved footways and finally new architectural fencing. There are also a number of stone staircases which are to be rebuilt.

The main retaining wall (No.7) is situated behind Stalybridge Police Station and is directly behind the footway on Stamford Street.

Ground anchors and trench sheets have been used to provide sufficient temporary support to the carriageway.

The main challenge of the works is one of logistics; physically getting men, equipment and materials safely to the working areas which are located on the side of the steep embankments or on the tops of the retaining walls.

The Mini Piles have been designed and installed by Tritech Piling & Foundations Ltd.
